⚠️ Are You or Someone You Know Running an Airbnb, Self-Catering or Short Term Rental in KwaDuKuza Municipality?
Add Your Voice: Register as an Affected Party in the Land Use Changes Affecting Hosts
The KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) is proposing changes to its Land Use Scheme that could directly impact short-term rental (STR) hosts, Airbnb operators, and self-catering properties—particularly those in residential zones.
One key proposal is that all self-catering and STR operations will need to apply for Special Consent—or risk being considered unlawful going forward.
👉 I was personally raided last week by municipal officials from multiple departments, including planning and business licensing.
👉 They requested documentation and stated that without Special Consent, my STR was in breach.
👉 This could happen to any one of us—unless we act now.
I’m Tamryn Sherriffs, a local host, business owner, and part of a broader STR community that wants to respond together. I'm creating a list of affected parties to:
✅ Show how many hosts are being impacted
✅ Stay informed of critical updates as they unfold
✅ Coordinate a united, proactive response—including engaging with the Chamber and KDM
This is not the official KDM process. By registering here, you’ll receive all the details on the next page, including:
